How to Sign a PDF Without Printing
Printing, signing and scanning is slow and produces blurry copies. You can sign the PDF digitally instead with tools you probably already have.
Step by step
- Open the PDF on your device. Save the PDF from your email or browser to your computer or phone.
- Pick a signing tool. Preview on Mac, Files and Markup on iPhone, Acrobat Reader on Windows and Android, or a browser-based tool.
- Create your signature. Draw it with a trackpad, mouse or finger, or type your name.
- Place it and add the date. Drag the signature onto the signature line and add the date as text.
- Save and send. Save the signed PDF and email it back or upload it where it was requested.
Is it as valid as a wet signature?
In many countries, electronic signatures are valid for most documents. A few documents, such as some wills or notarized forms, may still require ink or special procedures.
