How our plans count

Most e-signature pricing is built around the envelope: one document package sent to one or more signers, with a tight allowance per user. The moment you have a busy month, say a batch of rental renewals or a round of freelance contracts, you start rationing. You bundle unrelated documents into one envelope, you delay sending, or you quietly print and scan because you hit the cap.

We count one thing: documents. A document counts when you send it for signature or sign it yourself in the app; drafts, signers and pages never count. Free includes 3 documents a month and Bronze 25. Silver and Gold have no monthly limit at all, so if you send a lot, you never ration. Signers, the people on the other side, are always free and never need an account.

Senders are simple too. Free, Bronze and Silver are for one sender. Gold covers up to 5 senders at one flat price, with shared templates and your branding, so a small team doesn't pay per seat. Our honest reasoning: the cost of one more signature request is tiny for us, so we would rather earn the upgrade by being useful than by putting a meter on your inbox.

How this compares to DocuSign and Dropbox Sign

To make this concrete, here is roughly what the big names publish at the time of writing. DocuSign Personal is listed at about $11 a month on annual billing and includes 5 envelopes a month. DocuSign Standard is around $30 per user a month and Business Pro around $45 per user a month, both annual, with an allowance in the region of 100 envelopes per user per year on those plans. Dropbox Sign Essentials is listed at about $15 a month. Prices and limits change, so check their pages before you decide; we are not trying to be sneaky with stale numbers.

The difference that matters is not only the headline price. On DocuSign Personal, 5 envelopes a month costs about $11; our Free plan gives you 3 documents a month at $0, and Bronze gives you 25 for $4.99. On the per-user plans, roughly 100 envelopes a year works out to about eight a month; that is fine for occasional use and tight for anyone whose job involves contracts. Our Silver plan is $9.99 a month with unlimited documents for one sender, and Gold is $19.99 a month for up to 5 senders, with shared templates and your own logo and colors.

Where they win: DocuSign and Dropbox Sign have years of integrations, advanced identity verification options and enterprise admin features. If you need qualified or advanced signatures, deep CRM workflows or a procurement-approved vendor with a long compliance paper trail, they are the safer pick today. If you need to get everyday agreements signed with solid evidence, you are likely paying for things you will never touch.

What stays free forever

Three things will not move behind a paywall: the Sign PDF tool, the Fill PDF tool and the signature generator. They are included with every account, including Free. Fill PDF and the signature generator run entirely in your browser, so the file you fill is never uploaded to us and they do not count toward your monthly documents. Sign PDF uses the regular sign-it-yourself flow: the PDF is uploaded and stored encrypted, you get an audit trail and certificate of completion, and each signed PDF counts as one of your monthly documents. We built them because they are genuinely useful on their own, and because we think a company that lets you try the core experience for free is easier to trust.

The Free plan itself includes 3 documents a month with the same audit trail, certificate of completion and SHA-256 fingerprint as paid plans. We do not strip evidence out of the free tier. A contract signed on the Free plan should hold up exactly as well as one signed on Gold.

Which plan should you pick?

Free is right if you sign a handful of things a month: a lease renewal, a freelance agreement, a permission form. If you are under three documents a month, stay here; we mean that.

Bronze at $4.99 a month ($39.99 a year) gives you 25 documents a month and automatic reminders, enough for most people who send every week. Silver at $9.99 a month ($89.99 a year) is for the solo operator who sends a lot: a consultant with a steady stream of statements of work, a landlord with many units, a photographer sending model releases after every shoot. Unlimited documents, bulk send, web forms and the API mean you stop thinking about it.

Gold at $19.99 a month ($179.99 a year) adds priority support, seats for up to 5 senders with shared templates, and your logo and brand color on the signer page, emails and certificate, for small businesses where more than one person sends. If only one person sends and others just sign, you do not need Gold.

An early-access note

eSignSimple is in early access. The prices above are the prices we intend to launch with. If something about the plans does not fit how you work, tell us. Pricing that is readable in five seconds is a principle for us, and we would rather adjust now than bolt on exceptions later.

Pricing questions

What counts as a document?

One document sent for signature, no matter how many signers or pages it has.

Are there envelope limits on paid plans?

Bronze includes 25 documents a month. Silver and Gold include unlimited documents.

Do signers pay anything?

No. Only senders need a plan. Signers never need an account.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Paid plans are monthly or yearly subscriptions (Bronze from $4.99/month), and you can cancel anytime from your account settings. Your access lasts until the end of the period you paid for.

Is eSignSimple available now?

Yes. Create a free account with Google and you can send PDF or Word documents for signature right away. The Free plan includes 3 documents a month; Bronze ($4.99/month) raises it to 25 and Silver ($9.99/month) removes the limit. We still call this an early-access period because features and prices may change.

What is a sender, exactly?

A sender is a person who prepares and sends documents for signature from their own account. Free, Bronze and Silver cover one sender; Gold covers up to 5 on one team. People who only sign documents are not senders and never need a plan or an account.

Is the free plan missing the audit trail or certificate?

No. Every plan, including Free, includes the full audit trail, the certificate of completion and the SHA-256 fingerprint you can check on our public verify page.

Why is eSignSimple cheaper than DocuSign?

We focus on simple electronic signatures for everyday agreements and skip enterprise features such as qualified signatures and complex admin tooling. Less to build and sell means we can charge less.

Can I mix plans, for example one Gold sender and one Silver sender?

Plans apply to an account. If more than one person sends, Gold is the plan built for that (up to 5 senders, shared templates); if you work alone, Bronze or Silver is the better fit.

Do the free tools count toward my 3 free documents?

Fill PDF and the signature generator don't: they run in your browser without uploading your file and have no monthly limit. A PDF you sign with Sign PDF does, because it is a document you sign yourself in the app, just like documents you send for signature.
