DocuSign for small business: costs, limits and a simpler alternative
For a small business, DocuSign's main cost drivers are per-user pricing and envelope caps: Standard is $30/user/month billed yearly with about 100 envelopes per user per year. If one or two people send your contracts, eSignSimple is $9/month per sender with unlimited documents. If you need several users in one account, shared templates, branding or integrations today, DocuSign is still the stronger choice because our Team plan is not live yet.
DocuSign is a good product, and many small businesses use it because clients recognize the name. The friction usually shows up at renewal: annual commitments, per-user pricing and envelope allowances that are easy to exceed in a busy quarter.
eSignSimple is built for owner-operated businesses and very small teams. Each sender has their own account, documents are unlimited on Personal, and the essentials (templates, signing order, reminders, bulk send, web forms, audit trail, API) are all included.
We want to be clear about the gap: team seats, shared templates, branding and admin controls are not available yet. A five-person team can use eSignSimple today only as five separate Personal accounts.

For a team that needs shared templates, admin controls and branding, wait for our Team plan or stay with DocuSign. We would rather tell you that now than after you switch.
