A Box Sign alternative when you don't need a Box subscription
Box Sign is built into Box: the free Individual plan includes 5 signature requests a month, Personal Pro 15, Business Starter 10, and unlimited requests start on the Business plan, which requires at least 3 users. eSignSimple is a standalone signing tool with unlimited documents for one sender at $4.99/month. If your files already live in Box, or you came from SignRequest, Box Sign is the natural choice; if you just need signatures, we are simpler.
Box bought SignRequest in 2021 and turned it into Box Sign, the e-signature feature inside its cloud content platform. SignRequest users were moved to Box Sign, so if you are looking for a SignRequest alternative, this page covers the same product.
Box Sign is not sold on its own as an app plan; its limits depend on which Box storage plan you have. Box sells separate Sign APIs for developers. eSignSimple is signing only: upload PDF or Word, add fields, send, and get an audit trail.

If your company already pays for Box Business, Box Sign is effectively free and unlimited, and it keeps signed files where your team works. Do not switch for price in that case.
Box Sign makes less sense for freelancers: the free and Personal Pro plans cap you at 5 or 15 requests, and unlimited requires a 3-seat business plan. A standalone tool like eSignSimple, or others on our compare hub, is cheaper for one person.
