Dropbox Sign Pricing 2026: Plans, API & Real Costs

Dropbox Sign (formerly HelloSign) costs $15/month for Essentials and $25 per user per month for Standard on monthly billing, or $10.05 and $17.50 per user per month billed yearly (checked October 14, 2026). Standard needs at least 2 users, Premium is custom-quoted for 5 or more, and paid plans include unlimited signature requests. API plans are priced separately, from $75/month.

Dropbox Sign has the simplest pricing of the big e-signature tools, with one clear advantage: every paid web plan includes unlimited signature requests. There are no envelope quotas to track, which is the main complaint about DocuSign and Adobe Sign user licenses.

The pricing page lists three web plans. Essentials is for one person at $15/month on monthly billing ($180 a year) or $10.05/month billed yearly ($120.60). Standard is $25 per user per month monthly or $17.50 per user per month yearly, for "2 or more" users, so the cheapest Standard account is $600 a year on monthly billing or $420 yearly. Premium is for 5 or more users and needs a custom quote. A free plan allows 3 signature requests a month plus unlimited self-signing, and paid plans come with a 30-day trial.

Two details deserve a closer look. First, templates are capped: 5 on Essentials, 15 on Standard, unlimited only on Premium. Second, the page currently advertises 30% off the first year of eligible annual plans, so check at checkout whether the yearly figure you see is a first-year price before you budget the renewal. Branding, bulk send, SMS authentication and the admin console start at Standard; SSO is listed only on Premium; Salesforce-type integrations are a paid add-on.

The API is a separate product with its own price list. API Essentials starts at $75/month for 50 signature requests a month, API Standard at $250/month for 100, and Premium is quoted; a test mode is free. Below is a full breakdown and what the same workload costs on eSignSimple's plans. For features, see our Dropbox Sign alternative page.

Where is Dropbox Sign the better choice?

  • Unlimited signature requests on every paid plan, including the $15 Essentials plan. Heavy single senders never meet a quota.
  • A mature API with official SDKs in Python, Ruby, PHP, Java, Node.js and C#, embedded signing and requesting, and a free test mode. eSignSimple has a plain REST API and webhooks, no SDKs, no sandbox and no embedded signing.
  • SMS authentication on Standard, plus SSO, data residency and multi-team management on Premium.
  • Native integrations with Google Drive, Microsoft Word, HubSpot and Dropbox, and Salesforce as an add-on. eSignSimple has no native integrations yet.
  • The interface is available in 22 languages, against our 10, and Dropbox lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 compliance, which we do not claim.

Why do people switch to eSignSimple?

No template cap

Essentials allows 5 templates and Standard 15. eSignSimple includes unlimited templates on every plan, including the free one.

Bulk send and branding on one seat

Dropbox Sign puts bulk send and branding on Standard, which requires at least 2 users. eSignSimple gives one sender bulk send on Silver ($9.99/month) and branding on Gold ($19.99/month).

API included, not a separate subscription

Dropbox Sign's API starts at $75/month for 50 signature requests. eSignSimple Silver includes the REST API and webhooks for $9.99/month with no per-request fees.

Cheaper for occasional senders

If you send 10 to 25 documents a month, Bronze costs $39.99 a year, a third of Dropbox Sign Essentials billed yearly.

How do you switch from Dropbox Sign to eSignSimple?

  1. Count how many templates you rely on and whether you use bulk send or the API; those decide the eSignSimple plan.
  2. Download completed documents and audit trails from Dropbox Sign before your renewal date.
  3. Send one real document from eSignSimple's free plan to check the signer experience.
  4. Recreate your templates (no cap on any plan) and, if you used the API, point your integration at eSignSimple's REST API and webhooks.
  5. Choose Bronze, Silver or Gold and let the Dropbox Sign plan expire at the end of its term.

Our take

Dropbox Sign's pricing is honest and easy to read, and unlimited signature requests on a $15 plan is a genuinely good deal for a busy solo sender. If you send 40 documents a month and need nothing beyond templates, Essentials is fairly priced.

The costs show up when you need more than one person or more than a few templates. Bulk send and branding mean Standard, Standard means two seats, and the API is a separate subscription from $75 a month. eSignSimple bundles those into Silver and Gold at a fraction of the price, as long as you do not need SMS authentication, SSO or embedded signing.
