DocuSign vs SignWell: which e-signature tool should you pick?

Choose SignWell if you want unlimited documents at a low price: Light is $10/month billed yearly ($12 monthly) with bulk send and API access, and there is a free plan. Choose DocuSign if you need its integration ecosystem, ID verification add-ons or enterprise support: Personal is $11/month on an annual plan but capped at 5 envelopes a month.

DocuSign is the best-known e-signature brand; SignWell is a smaller, lower-priced tool that pitches itself on unlimited documents and predictable pricing. Both deliver legally binding signatures with audit trails. The gap is in limits and in how far each product reaches beyond signing.

DocuSign Personal is $11/month on an annual plan ($132 a year) with 5 envelopes a month. Standard ($30) and Business Pro ($45) are priced per user per month on annual plans and include about 100 envelopes per user per year. Bulk send, web forms, payments and API access start on Business Pro; SMS delivery and ID verification are paid add-ons. See our DocuSign pricing page.

SignWell has a free plan with 3 documents a month, Light at $10/month billed yearly ($12 monthly) and Business at $30/month billed yearly ($36 monthly) with 3 senders. Paid plans include unlimited documents; Light already has bulk send, and every plan includes API access (25 API documents a month free, then pay per document), embedded signing and Zapier. Your logo, SMS credits and passcodes start on Business. See our SignWell alternative page.

If all you do is send finished PDFs or Word files for signature, eSignSimple is a simpler third option: a free plan with 3 documents a month, Bronze at $4.99/month and unlimited documents on Silver at $9.99/month. Its column is included for reference.

Our take

For small businesses that just need volume, SignWell is far better value than DocuSign: unlimited documents and bulk send for $10/month against DocuSign's 5-envelope Personal plan. DocuSign earns its price only when you need its add-ons, integrations or name.

We are honest about it: SignWell Light and eSignSimple Silver cost about the same per month. We are cheaper on the yearly plan and have a $4.99 Bronze tier; SignWell gives developers more. Pick by what you need.

We compare published features and prices from each vendor's own website and list the sources above. Where we could not verify something, we say so.
